I cannot believe we are at the start of November!! Where has this year gone?! Every year, I do some type of “thankful tree” with my kiddos…it may look different every year, but the concept is the same – each child names a different thing they are thankful for everyday and we write that on a leaf. By the end of November, we have a full tree!! I love this idea…but lately, I have been talking with my kids more and more about being thankful at times other than November. I think that doing this grateful list every Monday has shown me the importance of a thankful heart, and I want my kids to learn that at a much earlier age than I did. Sometimes at dinner I will ask them each to share one thing they are thankful for from that day. At first, when I started asking my kids this question, they would name big, obvious things like, “my family” or “our house.” But, the more I ask them this question, the more they have to think…and therefore, this leads them to thinking of smaller more simple things to be thankful for. I love this and am praying that the seed of thankfulness will be planted deeeeeep into my children’s hearts so that they will have a FULL well to dip into as they grow. Please Lord, may it be so.
This week, I am especially thankful for…
