I was blessed to receive a copy of the e-book, Savoring Living Water, by Katie Orr and Lara Williams. I have been so encouraged, inspired and challenged in my walk with Him through the blogs of these 2 ladies, that I knew their e-book would be just as wonderful.
The title alone (as well as the front cover!) makes me want to pick this book up. But, the reminder that we thirst is what truly draws me in.
This e-book (you can also purchase a spiral bound copy) is such a blessing and encouragement for anyone trying to dig into God’s Word a bit more.
“There is no other way to describe it. I thirst. And in my thirst, I waste time searching this physical world for something to satisfy me.” from Savoring Living Water, p. 9.
This e-book is the perfect encouragement, motivation, reminder and challenge that most of us need from time to time! Even if you have been studying God’s Word for many years, we all need little refresher courses and reminders of just how important His Word ~ this Living Water ~ really is in our lives.
Not only does this book give you the encouragement and motivation to get in God’s Word, it also helps you with many practical suggestions for this precious time with the Savior.
Topics like:
- choosing good tools
- setting goals
- facing distractions
- ideas for those early rising kiddos 🙂
- scripture memory tools
More than the practical ideas, one of my favorite parts of this book is just reading and seeing into the hearts of Katie and Lara. You can see that God’s Word is so important to them. And, that makes you crave more for yourself. You know that they are living what they are writing about, and that encourages us to dig in more as well.
There also is a companion journal to go with this e-book, questions, scriptures and journaling spots that go along with each chapter of the book. As soon as I saw these questions, I knew I needed to print out this entire book and go through it more slowly. 🙂 It’s good stuff.
One last thing that I think you will appreciate about the book, Savoring Living Water, is that $2 from the purchase of every book goes to an organization called One Verse. This is a really cool organization that I was not familiar with! They are getting God’s Word into the many languages that do not have the Bible yet!! Each $26 donated to this group, gets one scripture verse into one of those languages that still needs the Bible. Isn’t that awesome??
So, if you are needing any encouragement to get into God’s Word a little more regularly OR to get BACK into God’s Word, I highly recommend this great resource!! Like so many of you, as moms with young children who are also homeschooling, sometimes my own time gets put on the back burner. But, I can’t forget that God’s Word is life to me. I can’t do without it. I can’t live without Him!! I have to make time in His Word, in prayer and in Scripture memory a priority or it just doesn’t happen.
I’d love to hear from you…if you have read this book, what section did you find most helpful? Or, do you have any practical tips for us that have helped you to be faithful to spend time with God and His Word? As moms, I think this is something we should commit to praying about FOR each other!! Let’s pray for each other that we will hunger and thirst after our Savior and His love letter to us!
