I have been asking God to show me specifically how to pray for my children and their specific personalities and needs. In October I finished up a 31 day series on praying for our children. But, it doesn’t end there, ya know? There are always new challenges, new stages, new prayers to be prayed.
God showed me that the main areas of frustration I find in my children are a great way to actually pray for them!! I love it when He shows me something new like this! I have prayed recently that He would increase my faith and I love so much that He is answering this prayer.
For Hannah
*My frustration: her strong, strong will
*My prayer for today: from Isaiah 12:2
Lord, you are Hannah’s salvation. may she trust You and not be afraid. Lord, YOU are Hannah’s strength and her song. May she ever find her strength in you. May she be strong in you, Lord.
For Emily
*My frustration: her high emotions or sensitivity (which interestingly she gets from me! Yet it frustrates me in parenting her! ha!)
*My prayer for today: from Deut. 30:20
Father, that Emily may love you as Lord of her life, listen to YOUR voice and hold fast to You. May she be so sensitive to Your spirit alive in her that she walks closely with You all her days. May she hold fast, clinging tightly to You.
For Caleb
*My frustration: the very boy-nature that I love so often! (ha! I’m so contrary! Caleb is all boy and I LOVE that, but sometimes it brings its own frustrations, ya know?)
*My prayer for today: from 1 Samuel 13:14
Oh God, how I love this little boy. Thank You for his playfulness, His laughter, His digging in the dirt and finding joy in the trees. God grow Caleb into a man after Your own heart. Grow him into a strong man of God.
