Every year some of the big home decorating blogs do a Christmas tour! ย It’s so fun looking at all the homes decorated for Christmas! But, I want to be honest…sometimes it’s hard to look at these big, beautiful homes and all their gorgeous decorations!!
In sharing recently about my journey to contentment, I want to be honest…I’m content in our home. Most days. ๐ I keep adding things I love to it…redoing our dining room with thrift store plates on the wall, finding a dayspring sale and getting a new vase for less than $5. So, I want you to know that ย you CAN decorate your home with things you LOVE withOUT breaking the budget!! (although, I have mentioned before that oftentimes I come across these awesome deals and can’t turn them down, so I do spend what we don’t need to be spending! ha!)
There definitely is a fine line…and balance…and moderation. All things I’m still learning.
But, God is teaching me about CONTENTMENT. And so, I’m sharing pictures of our hiumble abode…not because I have the most beautiful home. Not because my tree is the prettiest around. Not because I have a trendy, latest-greatest-design home…
But, because, for us…it’s home.ย
What I love most about my home is the people I share it with! ๐ย
Come, Lord Jesus.ย

I love it!!! I love how all your decorations look like they are meaningful not just to you, but to your children. I love the simplicity, the sincerity of your home. I will get in a groove someday. ๐ We had a HUGE frame leftover from the garage sale, so my friend is turning it into a chalkboard for me. I’m so so so excited to get it and to get that wall “decorated.” ๐

Beautiful little Christmas touches all around. I LOVE that some are subtle. I love the idea of keeping a little bit of Christmas around all year, and some of your decor would allow for that…perfect!
Candace Crabtree says
Beautiful! Love the way you’re bathing your home in Scripture, and I also love the photo wall with the chalkboard. I am a fan of simplicity and warmth & it looks like you achieved both ๐ Merry Christmas!
Candace Crabtree says
Oh, I love all the details. And that carol has long been a favourite.
Candace Crabtree says
Am I the only one that thinks the basket of Christmas books is the most important decor the house can have?
Candace Crabtree says
I love the way you juxtaposed that carol with your pictures. And your words at the end made me cry. Amen.
Candace Crabtree says
You have a beautiful home! I love your Christmas decor, especially the basket of Christmas books and chalkboard messages. Merry Christmas!

I love your advent candle arrangement. Did you do that yourself or buy it???
Candace Crabtree says
Hi Amy! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. ๐ I did put it together myself…but what is crazy is that I used a regular sized plain green wreath to set it all in! It fit perfectly! So, that would totally be do-able for anyone else. I just used a plain green wreath from walmart, pillar candles and then kept filling in with pinecones, etc. I put it all in a big basket I had on hand, but you wouldn’t have to have a basket I don’t think. I love advent wreathes!

Thank you so much for stopping by, Cameron! My chalkboard is one of my favorite things in my home! I love changing up the message! ๐
Candace Crabtree says
Of COURSE it is the most important!! ๐ I love Christmas-kids-books. Thanks for stopping by!!
Candace Crabtree says
Thank you!! That is one of my most favorite carols, too. And it makes a lovely prayer as well!
Candace Crabtree says
Thank you so much, Renee! Your words are very encouraging to me! ๐ I love the Scriptures everywhere too…praying it is planting seeds in my kids hearts that will last for many years to come.
Candace Crabtree says
thanks so much, Christie!! I love adding “little bits” to what we already have…plus, we don’t have a ton of room for lots of “extra” anyway!
Candace Crabtree says
Ami, thanks so much. ๐ So glad you are getting a chalkboard. I think it is probably my favorite home decorating “piece” in my home! I love putting verses, quotes, songs…etc, on it!! You’ll love yours too!
Candace Crabtree says
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. God has been teaching me so much about contentment and being content in Him. I’m glad my words encouraged you as well.

You have a very peaceful and comforting home!

Love your “Thankful” banner! I keep a pillow out all year that says, “Give Thanks”, and this year I added a banner that says the same in my office. Constant reminders – I love it! Your home is beautiful, so glad I came over from the Nester. ๐ Merry Christmas!
Candace Crabtree says
Love your “thankfulness” banner! I have a pillow and a banner that I leave out all year that both say, “Give Thanks” – a wonderful reminder, year round. Just popping over from the Nester – your home is beautiful! Blessings and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for sharing your home. I relate to learning to be content in a far from decorating-blog-worthy house. Your home has a beautiful look of peace to it and looks far more welcoming and home-like than the most “perfect” magazine house. ๐ I sense a lot of joy and love that can’t be designed or bought. I really enjoyed your post!

Oh I get the content struggles! We swap homes every few years so nothing really ever feels like mine. I think your decor is very lovely and God centered, which is delightful to see. Oh and I love the hymn “Come thou long expected Jesus”, I was singing to myself as I cruised your post ๐

I love your chalk board, so sweet!

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting! I, too, love the reminder for thankfulness all year round!!
