God’s Glory Outside My Window
5-6 inches of snow one day, into the 60’s a few days later!! If you don’t like the weather in TN, just wait 10 minutes. 🙂 That’s what they say, anyway!! I admit, I like the cold, being snowed in and the beautiful white stuff. I’m always a bit sad when it melts! (Though my hardwood floors will thank me when no one is treading in all that mud and wetness!)
Giving Thanks
My oldest is 12 years old now, we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a few friends and yummy snacks as well as a family dinner that night to our favorite Mexican place. I’m thankful for friends on Facebook who cheered me up after a rough morning that day. 🙂
In The Schoolroom
Did you enjoy the Olympics with your kids?? WE DID!!! I’m sad they are over. We are several weeks into our Winter Olympics and Ancient Greece study! Loving it and loving the Chalk Pastel Tutorials for Winter Olympics also! We are also finishing up Ancient Greece and moving on to Ancient China now in our history readings!
From The Kitchen
Emily has made bread all by herself! What an awesome accomplishment for a 10 year old…especially considering her mama doesn’t enjoy it much. I’m SO glad that she does!! Several of you asked for that recipe and I will be posting it here on the blog very soon!
Around The Home
The house itself isn’t too bad…but the FLOORS, oh the floors…after snow and slush and mud for days on end…I need to mop a FEW times to get it all. 🙂
On My Nightstand
Introverts in the Church: Finding Our Place in an Extroverted Culture is so far pretty good, I don’t think I’m far enough into it to tell you much…I think it was written more specifically for church leaders, but I think I can still glean a lot from it. At the very least, know I’m not alone in my weird ways and thoughts about the church. ha!
Chasing God was an amazing read for me. Angie Smith is one of my favorite authors. I wrote a full review of this book here. Hope you had a chance to read it.
MotherStyles: Using Personality Type to Discover Your Parenting Strengths ~ You will definitely be hearing more about this book in the future. I’m working on a few posts right now about Introverts and Homeschooling. 🙂 This book is for all mothers (not just homeschoolers) and finding how your personality type affects your mothering. SO interesting!!
Clicking Around
Have you been listening to these HomeschoolingIRL podcasts? I love them! I still need to catch up on their first ones, but I’ve listened to all the recent ones. In case you haven’t heard of these yet, my friend Kendra (from Preschoolers and Peace) and her husband are doing these and they are SO good.  Speaking of Preschoolers and Peace…did you know that was one of the first blogs I read AND one of the first blogs that made me really love blogging? Now that Kendra is in a different stage of parenting and life, she is focusing on the podcasts more, Michele is now writing more for P&P. I have loved getting to know Michele a bit through online chatting and just love her heart. You know how I love real, authentic posts about homeschooling…so you might guess I loved this post. 🙂 And she is also starting a series on Life in the NICU. I know if you’ve experienced the NICU you will be blessed!
Have you ever read any of Chesterson’s writings? I have not, but Sarah is making me want to do so!
