Scripture
“To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens Behold, as the eyes of servant look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he has mercy upon us.” Psalm 123:1-2
In the Waiting
Our eyes look to the Lord until He has mercy upon us. This is tough. The Lord is so merciful, but sometimes what He gives doesn’t feel like mercy to us. This is where we need to have a gospel preaching session with ourselves.
When you find yourself feeling defeated and hopeless in the waiting, preaching the truth of God’s Word to yourself is so vital. Read Psalm 23 and remind yourself that you are not alone, read Psalm 34 and let the Lord encourage your broken heart, read Psalm 100 and repeat the words of thanksgiving aloud until your heart joins your mind. God’s Word is so full of truth and we must not let it fall by the wayside in our times of despair. These are the times that the Lord will draw you to Himself if you will just allow Him to do so.
Waiting on the Lord to be merciful may not always look like what we hoped for, but we can always know without a doubt that He is merciful. What He gives is for our good.
Prayer
Lord, to You I lift up my eyes, You are enthroned in the heavens. We look to You and wait for Your mercy. We trust that whatever comes our way comes from a Father’s merciful and loving heart that wants the best for us. Help us to trust You more.
