“…and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17.
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36.
I thought my word for 2020 was supposed to be brave or courage. But that thought didn’t feel right to me.
When I was in Hawaii my word and prayer and verse for 2020 hit me. Free.
I have lived for so many years of my life NOT free. In bondage to so many things: the opinions of others, the lack of forgiveness, the criticism toward myself, holding grudges from the past, sadness, and what I thought was the inability to truly let things go and move on.
But where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. So I want to be closer to Him. So close that all I know is freedom. I want to choose belief. I want to train myself to overcome. I want to change my thoughts and think about whatever things are lovely.
This journey for me has already begun. But you know how it goes, sometimes you take two steps forward and then a few back. I may not make perfect progress but I’m weary of the looking back. It doesn’t bring freedom.
I’m so weary of changing who I am because of my fear of what others think. I’m weary of the wondering, the questioning, the doubting. That is the opposite of freedom.
In Christ I am free. Truly free. I am loved as I am. I am chosen. Not forsaken. I am who You say I am.
Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me?
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
Free at last, He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am
