I woke up overwhelmed with the weight(s) of the world. I started praying and naming people and situations and countries…and God had to calm my heart and slow me down. I love that when I enter His presence He is my calm and my comfort and my peace.
These are the verses I turn to time and time again, when my heart is overwhelmed, KNOWING that His heart is not overwhelmed. He sits on His throne, He is sovereign and He is love.
Maybe one of these will encourage your heart today too…
FIVE VERSES FOR WHEN YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED WITH THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD
“Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.” Psalm 61:1-4
“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” Psalm 3:3
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26
