Read 1 John with me in August! Now, before you look at this reading plan, let me share the heart behind breaking up the book like this.
This reading plan is NOT suggesting you read 2-3 verses from the book of 1 John each day out of context and that be all you read. Dividing up the book into verses is mostly if you want to WRITE THE WORD. This gives you a few verses to write each day of the month.
The other thing the plan does is give us a point of discussion each day.
But my BEST tip for studying a book of the Bible is to read it in its entirety as many times as you can during the month of August!
Extra Resources:
- Commentary by John MacArthur (if you have a John MacArthur study Bible, these notes are the same)
- Exalting Jesus in 1, 2, 3 John (I love these Christ Centered Exposition commentaries!)
- 1 John Study from Daily Grace (I love their studies!)
Tips & Suggestions
• read the entire letter as many times as possible
• choose one passage to memorize during the month of August
• journal your thoughts and questions as we go along
• read it in various translations
• listen to it on audio as you’re doing household chores or in the car
• as you’re reading any amount of scripture ask yourself, “what can I learn about God and His character from this passage?”
