So many of us, especially as homeschool moms, want to make a difference but often feel helpless. I know I do. I go on mission trips, I volunteer locally, but sometimes I wonder…am I really making a difference? Can I do more? I want to do more but don’t always know what that more is.
Well, for Christmas this year, we can ALL make a HUGE difference in the lives of one (or more) families by doing our Christmas shopping a little differently.
Instead of giving our children, friends and family one.more.thing that they really don’t need (or want,) we can give LIFE to a family around the world in honor of our friends and family!
Shop through Compassion and give a family in need a fresh start on LIFE!
This is probably my personal favorite. Last year, when we sent a birthday gift to our sponsored child through Compassion, we received a picture a few months later with our boy holding a CHICKEN.
I cannot tell you what this did to me….that a child would be EXCITED to receive a chicken. That our family, in east TN, could purchase something so life giving and practical for a child in UGANDA. Well, I cried when I saw that picture. That chicken has the possibility to change our child’s life and the life of his family.
That is amazing.
And that is what I want to teach my children this Christmas.
So, we will look through the catalog, we will discuss, we will decide what we want to purchase for a family somewhere on the other side of the world.
That’s the real meaning of Christmas. Don’t you agree?
Will you please consider shopping through Compassion this year? Maybe let your children choose a gift to GIVE in place of one they might have RECEIVED from you. Or maybe choose a gift to give as a family in memory of a loved one who has passed away. Or maybe you’d just like to “shop til you drop” in a way that can give life to others instead of piling more stuff into our homes.
