We love our iPad around here! The kids pretty much fight over it and the iPods daily. So, reviewing a game on the iPad, called Mayan Mysteries from Dig-It-Games seemed like a fun review for us! We were given a code to redeem from iTunes to play this game on our ipad.
This specific game that we played, the Mayan Mysteries for iPad is geared toward 5th-9th graders or ages 9yrs and up. I was excited about the possibility of having my girls play this game because it is geared specifically for their age group. I also was excited because we are about to start Ancient History in our schooling and this game has puzzles and facts about ancient Maya.
My girls thought this ipad game was a lot of fun because it is a mystery they need to figure out, I have one daughter in particular that loves a good mystery. 🙂 I love that it takes place in Central America, because I have been to Belize several times and have a brother that lives in Guatemala! There are several portions to the game that include map skills and it was fun for the girls to see places they had connections with on the map!
And while this game wasn’t one of my kids top favorites, they did enjoy it AND it gives us another educational game choice, which I love! Do be aware, though, that once you get to the end of this game, you will NOT be solving the mystery! This was a bit of a disappointment as you have to continue on to the next game/level, which has to be purchased.
This iPad app/game sells for $9.99 and would be a great addition to your educational app collection! 🙂 There are other options available as well, if you do not own an iPad. For $21.99 you can play this on your computer, and if you happen to be a teacher in a school setting, you can get a classroom license for $299.00
