Sometimes all the goals, the resolutions, the well-made plans are just too much. I’m not a goal setter by nature. I do like a good to-do list. But goals? Not so much.
I have been pondering why this is the case for me. I think part of it has to do with a hopelessness I didn’t realize was even there. Maybe a discouragement hiding under the outer layer. Thinking I’m not capable of change.
Maybe deep down I’m afraid of failure.
Maybe deep down I’m worried that others won’t like my ideas.
Maybe deep down I’m discouraged with a lack of progress in the past.
Maybe deep down I’m hopeless that I can break bad habits.
What about these verses about God doing a NEW thing? I have a whole month of Scriptures to pray to encourage you that God is all about the NEW.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Psalm 43:19
What is it about our faith and about God that stretches us? How do we grow in Him?
Believe.
We must believe God. We must take Him at His Word, for His Word never returns void, as He tells us in Isaiah 55.
Dear ones, if you are in Christ, you are a new creation.
See those verses up there? Memorize them. Write them. Pray them. Let them be your mantra for the new year. And as for that faith? Let that be your prayer, too.
I believe, Lord, help my unbelief.
Increase my faith, Lord.
God, You are doing a new thing, help me to believe it.
Help me to know that I am a new creation in You.
Help me to put away the old and put on the new.
I am a new creation in Christ.

Though I am not a natural goal oriented person, I am loving the sheets I purchased from the Lara Casey shop. I am not an affiliate for her, I just love what I’ve seen so far. I purchased the 2015 Power Sheets and have started going through them already.
Candace,
I am so thankful for you and all the work you have been putting into Praying the Scriptures. It has renewed my prayer life, which was so needed.
I am praying for you and your family as you start this new year. I know it has gotten off to a rocky start, but please know that you are surrounded by people who are gonna love you though this stinky time.
