I keep thinking about this verse from Colossians. It tells us to “let” peace rule… implying we have some kind of decision or action to take ourselves.
So how do we actually let peace rule our hearts?
Maybe a good place to start is to take honest inventory of what is currently ruling your heart.
If I’m honest, I don’t think I’m letting peace rule my heart at all times. I think anxious thoughts and insecurities and worries rule my heart pretty often.
But Jesus is our Prince of Peace. He doesn’t just bring peace, He is our peace.

So how can we begin to let Him rule in our hearts?
I immediately think of our time, our priorities, our thoughts, our energy.
If I’m not making Him and His Word a priority with what fills my mind, how can I expect to have peace?
If I’m filling my mind with garbage, I shouldn’t expect peace.
What am I choosing to focus on?
What am I choosing to dwell on?
What am I choosing to fill my mind with?
The beginning of this chapter in Colossians gives some helpful direction:
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:1-2
Peace isn’t passive. It’s not accidental. It’s something we allow, or resist.
So today, friend, how will you set your mind on Him?
