As you know, we are nearing the end of a Exploring Creation Human Anatomy for Elementary age kids…we have LOVED our science this year! We have had great fun with 2 other families meeting weekly to do projects and experiments.
Chapter 11: Your Senses
Life-Size Ear Activity
{this is a great hands-on activity that my friend Michelle gave me, you set up an “ear” for the kids to crawl through!!}
Once inside the ear (under our table) the kids found a hammer, stirrup, a shell with water for the cochlea, an extension cord for the auditory nerve, a picture of an anvil, a homemade drum for the eardrum. We talked about each piece and what it does in our ear.
Sense of Taste: Blind-fold Taste Test!
And then we dissected a cow’s EYEBALL!!! Yay! Much thanks, again, to Jennifer for walking us through the dissection. I think this was my favorite dissection so far, we could see SO many of the actual parts of the eye, it was amazing!!

I got this curriculum to use with my kiddos next year–LOVE these ideas. I haven’t looked through it too much, are these projects that the book suggests or are you finding them on your own? If you have any sites that have aided in your study I’d love to know them. I’m not sure I’ll be brave enough for any dissecting though . . . I wouldn’t describe myself as squeamish, but the eyeball may have made me cringe a bit. ;o)
