I have always been one to write in my Bible. I have years and years of little quotes from sermons, prayers for others and nuggets from my devotion time. This is probably one of my favorite things about the journaling Bible — more space to write in my little notes.

Now instead of cluttered margins, I have wide open spaces! {There is not a thing wrong with smaller margins and I will always treasure the Bibles from years past that I have written in! I’m just a little giddy with the prospect of more space to write!}

So, now that we’ve established the beautiful wide margins in the journaling Bible , what exactly do you WRITE in those margins?

Ways to Use Journaling Bible as Prayer Journal

Write in short prayers based on Scripture {Praying God’s Word is my favorite way to pray!}
Write in short, personal prayers for family members concerning things happening right now in their lives. Don’t forget to place a date beside your request! And if God answers or you see results, jot in an update and place date there as well!
Take notes from sermons, but turn the notes into a prayer for God to do that work the pastor is talking about in your own life. When your pastor talks about loving others, you can write “help me to love like You, God.” When your pastor talks about a sin you may struggle with, you can write “God, with your help I am victorious!”
I have often written in prayer requests for the world around me. I have prayers for the country of Iraq, with dates beside them. I have requests written in when tragedy happens in a certain location. As always, don’t forget to date these so you can look back and remember what was happening at that time!
Gratitude — it fills my heart with such joy to look back over little notes I’ve taken at various times in my life where I was GRATEFUL. It might be as simple as, “thank You, Lord, for your grace.” Or it might be more specific, “thank You, God, for the surprise note I got in the mail that made my day.” You will love looking back over these in the years to come!
I love thinking about my kids looking back over my Bibles in the future where I’ve written, “praying this verse for my kids” with a date beside it. I hope my children know that they are so prayed for every day of their lives!
