For the next 2 weeks we are going to be taking a deeper look into the life of the Indians. I have pulled resources from several different sources and thought I’d share our ideas for this unit.

*here is a great website for children called Learn About Native Americans
*one of our weeks we will be reading about Pocahontas and doing the lapbook from HSS!
*the other week we will be reading a book called If You Lived with the Iroquois and doing the lapbook that goes with it
*HSS also has a unit on Hiawatha!
*if you scroll down on this page of Misc. Lapbook components, you will see several Native American pieces you can add to your lapbook
*I picked up some really neat leather tee-pee crafts from Hobby Lobby that we will be doing with this unit
*we will be printing off a page like this that shows Indian symbols for words. We will attempt writing a few sentences in this way
*our library had several native american music cds that we will listen to
*it might also be fun to make a teepee from a brown paper bag and twigs!
*make a longhouse – the type of house the Iroquois Indians lived in
We will also be using some of the pages from History Pockets ~ Native Americans! I love History Pockets!!
