Seven years ago today you made me a mommy. My dream come true. My first-born. My baby girl. I had always wanted to be a mommy…and when you were born I was so happy!
Being your mommy has been the best thing that has ever happened to me! I am so thankful that God gave you to me! You are precious, smart, beautiful, talented, competitive, artistic, determined, and I love you!
Being your mommy has also been the hardest thing that I have ever done! When I was younger and growing up, all I ever wanted was to become a wife and mother. God saw fit to make my dreams come true. However, along the way, He also gave me many struggles. I share these things with you because someday I want you to actually read this letter. I want you to understand that being a wife and mommy isn’t easy. It isn’t the fairy tale ending that I always envisioned in my head.
But it is better than a fairy tale ending. It is better because when you allow God to be the leader of your life, He takes you through valleys…but is with you the whole time. He allows struggles to come into your life…but is molding you into His image all the while. He allows us to have our hearts broken…to show us that He is the only true Heart Healer.
I want you to know that life isn’t always easy…because for some reason I didn’t think it would be this hard! I want you to know most of all that I wouldn’t want to live even one day of my life without my Lord and Savior. I want you to know how He can and will be all that you need. He is even more important than finding a husband and becoming a mommy. 🙂
Hannah, this week as we have celebrated your 7th birthday we have read Psalm 139 many times. Oh how precious God’s word is to me! And how I pray that all these verses we are memorizing together now will bring you comfort and encouragement someday when you need it most. Cling to God’s word and to His promises. He is your heavenly Father and loves you more than you will ever know.
Oh how precious you are to me, sweet Hannah. You are in the middle of a stage with lots of crying. Many times I have been frustrated with you…frustrated with me because I don’t know how to respond or what is the best thing for you in those moments. Please know that I love you so much and know what it is like to be emotional. I know what it is like to cry for no reason. Or for a big reason. I want to help you through those moments…because you are my daughter and you are like me in so many ways.
God gave me such a gift when He gave you to me. I pray that you know you are a blessing. I pray that you know you have so many family members that cherish you. And I pray most of all that you know you have a heavenly Father who created you, knows everything about you, loves you and wants you to be His own.
