Once again I am overwhelmed with the need. The desperate people. The hungry. The lonely. So. much.hurt. So much need.
My children and I have spent the greater part of this morning reading about the Good Samaritan and then watching and reading.
Did you know that Compassion now has a site for kids?
Did you know that as I sit here in my warm home, with running and clean water, reading these stories on the internet that there is a team in El Salvador helping those who are suffering the tragedy of Hurricane Ida? Did you even know about Hurricane Ida?
I’ve been reading Kelly’s posts while she is in El Salvador. Today I watched the video of Kelly meeting her child that she sponsers. I want to meet our Kenneth someday…I really, really want to!!
I am reading Shaun Grove’s blog and watching the video he posted about their travels in El Salvador.
This morning my kids and I prayed for Kenneth and we prayed for the little boy and little girl that will receive our shoeboxes. We looked at this goat and talked about how buying a goat for a family can give them milk, yogurt and cheese, as well as financial help. But, oh Lord, what else can we be doing? Show us how to be the Good Samaritan right where we are. Allow our hearts to be broken for these hurting people around the world. And, as our hearts are breaking show us how to sacrifice and live more simply so that others can SIMPLY LIVE.
