How are we doing it?

I had someone ask how we are going about planning our Yard Sale – Give Away…so I thought I would try to answer that here.

Honestly, it has totally been a God thing. I have been praying for quite some time that God would bring opportunities my way right HERE in my own town where I can serve Him by showing love to the outcast in our area. There have actually been several really neat God-opportunities that He has given me in recent weeks that I just know He is answering my prayer!!

So, when I saw this video on Christmas Change, I started praying…praying that if God would have me to do something, He would orchestrate. So, I posted on my blog sharing the idea a few weeks ago.

I had a few friends mention they would be interested in helping…and one friend in particular who said she REALLY wanted to try this! So, we didn’t waste any time and started planning.

This is where it gets kind of crazy – see, I’m a planner! To plan a BIG ordeal like this in a few short weeks isn’t like me. But, I have total peace about this and am SO excited to see what God is going to do!! Only God could have filled me with peace like this!

I am blessed in that I have contacts at quite a few local ministries, due to a position at church that I served in. So, I emailed all the local ministries and asked them to help spread the word among the “needy” of our area — hanging up flyers, etc. Several wrote back that they were excited about this and would share.

Then, I sent out a mass email (I have close to 300 contacts in my email b/c I am the coordinator for our church’s email prayer chain) asking for help and donations. The response has been AMAZING! Only GOD could be pulling this off!! Only GOD could cause such an excitement over an outreach project!!

And, friends, that is really all I’ve done! There hasn’t been much to it. I am asking for donations of STUFF, donations of time, tables and baked goods. We want to have coffee and muffins to share with our guests when they come to shop.
