When we pray to God we must be seeking nothing – nothing.
~Saint Francis of Assisi
This quote really struck something in me when I first read it. What am I expecting when I pray? Am I expecting God to say yes? Am I expecting God to move in some way after listening to my long wish list?
Or…do I go to Him without those pesky expectations? Allowing Him to be God. And me to be me. I don’t want to go to God with a long list of wants and needs. Yes, I do pray about those things. I pray for others all through the day…
But, I need to learn to listen more and talk less. I need to learn to expect nothing. I need to learn to wait on God for who He is and not what He’ll give me.
