Here are Beth Moore’s comments and questions regarding Chapter 9 in the book, So Long, Insecurity.
Friends, if I could just gently nudge you…if you haven’t purchased or borrowed or read this book, I think you need to. 🙂 No, I may not know you…but you are probably a woman if you read this blog. And, this book is for every woman!! You have my permission to wait til it gets to the library…but, I’m telling ya, it won’t be the same if you can’t highlight, underline and write your own prayers beside what’s written. 🙂
And chapter 9, well, I could have probably bought the book just for this chapter!! In chapter 9, Beth wrote out a prayer that she wanted us to truly pray through with God…she instructed us to get by ourselves for awhile and really read through and pray this prayer.
I’m only a few paragraphs into it and I had to put it down for later. It is so much. It is so good. Honestly, I wondered how she peeked into my brain and heart and put things in a book that I was thinking. I mean really…she is so smart. LOL!!
Another thing that you might be encouraged by is reading this post. In this post, many, many of us ladies shared encouraging scriptures that the Lord has given us during this time. It is almost like REVIVAL reading through these comments one after the other!!
One of the questions from this week is to list 5 of these scriptures that speak the most powerfully to us at this place in our lives. She asked us to write these inside our books, too. Here are the scriptures that God has really used to encourage me in recent weeks:
“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deut. 20:4 NIV (I am so thankful that HE will fight for me…because the enemy has attacked my thoughts a lot lately!)
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
“He is your constant source of STABILITY, He ABUNDANTLY provides SAFETY and great WISDOM, He gives all this to those who fear Him.” Isaiah 33:6 (yes, Lord…I need that stability!!)
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Prov. 31:25 (this verse she uses in the book in great detail…I have a whole new appreciation for this verse!!)
“God sent me to announce the year of his grace – a celebration of God’s DESTRUCTION of our ENEMIES! {insecurity, maybe?} and to comfort all who mourn, to care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, messages of JOY instead of news of doom, a PRAISING HEART instead of a languid spirit…they’ll rebuild the old ruins, raise a NEW CITY of the wreckage. They’ll start over on the ruined cities, take the rubble left behind and MAKE IT NEW.” Isaiah 61:2-3, The Message (I am memorizing this passage in the NIV version, but love reading it from the Message too!)

Can’t wait to read this…I have it on hold at our library. They are in the process of obtaining it for their shelves…so I might have to wait a bit. Bummer! 🙂

I want this book. I am loving Breaking Free (for the second time). Next, our bible study group is doing When Godly People Do Ungodly Things. I am looking forward to that one as well. I put So Long Insecurity on my Amazon wish list but it was already there. LOL
