Friends, the simulcast was AWESOME!! I was SO proud of our women’s council for pulling off such a HUGE event!! It went so well…and of course, Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell were anointed. Honestly, I could have been filled up to overflowing just from the worship time.
I took pages of notes…and wanted to share some of it with you. Fortunately, Beth had a great acronym, which will make it easier to remember, I think!
Ok…so I’m just going to type out the notes I took. I hope someone will gain a bit of encouragement from this. Again, if you have not read the book, So Long, Insecurity: You’ve Been a Bad Friend to Us …I HIGHLY recommend it! 🙂
Here are some things Beth shared that really stuck out to me:
*There is not ONE SINGLE THING you can gain from your insecurities – not even humility!
*Insecurity is not the same as humility
*Insecurity is not a weakness, it is UNBELIEF!
*Jeremiah 9:20 ~ open your ears, hear the Word of the Lord
*Ephesians 4:17-24 – this was her main text for the day
*Eph. 4:1 ~ put off the old self
*let the world see the BEFORE and AFTER
*”you were taught” – those us who have been taught for years and years need to not just be readers and hearers of the word, we need to be DOers!
*Isaiah 43:18 – He is doing something new!
*allow the Word of God to change your life
6 Statements that Describe a SECURE woman!
SAVED from herself ~
*our own insecurity can be our biggest enemy!
*our human minds are twisted with idolatrous self-interest
*narcissism – insecurity goes hand in hand with our self-interest level
*homo incurvatus in se = a human being “curved” in upon self, as in everything we see and do and hear we turn back on ourselves, it’s all about me, all the time
*when we are filled with the Word and His Holy Spirit, everything curves UPWARD and OUTWARD
*can humility and security go together? YES
*insecurity makes us obsessed with ourselves
*security makes us think less of ourselves
ENTITLED to truth ~
*see the difference in those who live in truth and those who don’t (Eph. 4:17-24)
*when we get caught up in an addiction, we need more and more, we try to manage our stronghold instead of just being free
*”if I could just have this I would be happy” – these desires are based on deceit!
*the enemy wants to keep us from Truth
CLOTHED with intention ~
*start dressing with purpose
*put off the old and put on the new
*Prov.31:25 – clothed with strength and dignity
*we will not walk into security by accident, we need to use our will and strength in Him
*everyday get up and say, “I am going to put on strength and dignity!”
UPENDED by grace ~
*we can’t wait til we feel secure, it starts in our mind (Eph.4:23)
*to spiral UP instead of down, we place His truth in our mind and ACT like it even if we don’t feel it yet
*grace takes up all our space
*Eph.4:32 – “forgive them” means “grace them.”
*we are more likely to forgive when we are secure in Christ
*the more insecure we are, the more we are offended
*grace turns everything upside down: grace makes the leper clean, the broken made whole, the impossible made possible
*is your past truly in the past?
*Heb. 10:19-23, 2 Cor. 5:17
*nothing holds us in the bondage of insecurity like our belief that we are not forgiven – guilt
REBOUNDED by love ~
*Eph. 5:1 – be imitators of God as dearly LOVED children
*we can’t live as secure women until we accept/believe/trust God’s unconditional love for us
*I am dearly loved — BELOVED
*if a heart doesn’t heal, it hardens
*when we know we are lvoed, we love
*when we know we are forgiven, we forgive
*when we know we’ve been given many second chances, we give others second chances
*we need to love while knowing we don’t NEED that person’s love back
EXCEPTIONAL in life ~
*we all have a need for significance
*when we live securely in Him we will stand out, we are exceptional
*”all women are like that” — except her
*”no one could get over something like that” — except her
*” no one said anything to me” — except her
*if we are exceptional others will want to know what we have! (JESUS!)
What will you DO with what God has SHOWN you about the insecurity in your life?
