“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust.'” Psalm 91:1-2
dwell: to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside
When I think of the word dwell or dwelling, I think of a home.
When I think of home, I think of my home.
What does home mean to you? Is your home a soft landing place after a long day? Do you try to make your home comfortable and attractive for your family? Is home where you drive quickly to when trying to outrun a storm? Is home where you recover from a sickness? Is home where you’d rather be when feeling discouraged? Is home where you want your kids to come back to time and time again? Is your home a place of family celebrations? Does your home hold many fond memories for you?
Is your home where the heart is?
So, how do we dwell or remain in God? How do we reside in God? How do we truly live in Him? I think we can apply these same questions about home, to our relationship with God!
Is God a soft place to land after a long day? Is God where you drive quickly to in the midst of the storms of life? Is God a place of healing? Is God the One you want to be with when discouraged? What about when you are celebrating?
When we dwell, we are abiding in Him. When we abide in Him we are remaining in Him ~ residing; and He gives us peace.
Home sweet home.
