Headed to Belize soon!!

Next Thursday (very bright and very early) I will be getting on a plane and heading south to Belize!! I am so very excited!! I will be posting my itinerary on my blog so that you all (as well as friends and family) can be praying specifically for our group with the different things we will be doing while there.

For those of you that are not aware, the ministry that I am going with, Hearts of Christ, is a school sponsorship program. In Belize, you have to pay to go to school, therefore, there are MANY children who do not get to attend school and therefore never learn to read. So, Hearts of Christ asks for people to sponsor children (you can sponsor a child through them for $200 a year!!)

This sponsorship pays for all their school books, supplies, backpacks, uniforms and other fees that their country has. At this point, with Hearts of Christ there are over 1,000 children being sponsored!! Isn’t this awesome?? The more children that are sponsored by people like YOU, the more children Hearts of Christ can send to school!

While I am in Belize I will be getting to help with handing out the backpacks and school supplies for all the children. Hearts of Christ is very organized, they take pictures of each child, have paperwork on each child AND they also have each child write a letter to their sponsor when they come in!!

Most of the children will come to the Hearts of Christ Mission House which is located in Roaring Creek, Belize. However, some of the children are out in remote villages and we will get to GO TO THEM! I’m excited about this part of our trip! We will not only take school supplies out to these villages, but beans and rice for the families! Most of them do not even have electricity or running water in their homes. (and the water there is dirty as it is, we will be drinking all bottled water while there.)

Finally, in addition to receiving food and school supplies, each child that we register through Hearts of Christ hears the gospel shared from one of the team members!
