I wanted to share something exciting with you all…such a big answer to prayer in my own life. At first I was hesitant to mention this, not wanting to seem like I was pointing the attention to myself, but I think God had to give me a little stern talking-to about that. It is my heart’s desire to point to HIM and I can give Him glory through this situation, therefore, it is wrong NOT to share!! 🙂 He is the ONLY ONE that could have made all of this come about!!
I have a new reader in my Bible in 90 Days group!! (Now, don’t stop reading if you aren’t doing Bible in 90 Days, hopefully this will be an encouragement to you, too!)
The new reader in my group is Macy, my sister-in-law who is in jail! You may remember praying with me for her last year during her trial, when she was falsely accused, then convicted and sentenced to 3 years in jail. Our family has been praying fervently for Macy the whole time she has been in jail, which is since last April. We have prayed for God’s mercy, for His protection…and for Macy’s heart. I have prayed so many times for her not to grow bitter over this whole situation, as would be so easy to do.
I have written to Macy somewhat consistently since she has been in jail, and in my letter about 2 weeks ago, I printed off a Bible in 90 Days reading schedule and put it in the letter. I said a prayer and sent the letter on its way. I admit, my prayer had little faith attatched to it. Very little. I was doubtful that Macy would choose to try this reading plan…but, I still felt the nudge to send it.
Well, about 3-4 days after I sent the letter, my mother-in-law called me and sounded SO upbeat about Macy!! This has been so very hard on her, as you can imagine, and I was happy to hear her with something to be excited about. She told me that Macy had decided to start the Bible in 90 Days reading plan and had already read several days worth!! Wow!! Yipee!! Hallelujah!! 🙂
Not only is she reading the Bible daily, she has also started a Bible Study in her cell block!! Ya’ll, that is just a miracle! If you heard some of the stories of these girls, you would be as shocked as I am that they would show up for a Bible Study!! But, isn’t that the POWER OF CHRIST at work??
I share this out of pure excitement!! I also share this as a PLEA for you to PLEASE continue praying for Macy!! Please pray for her as she reads the Bible that God would speak to her heart, give her moments of joy despite her circumstance and give her a peace that passes all understanding. Please pray for her cellmates – those coming to Bible study and those who aren’t coming. Pray that hearts could be turned to Him. Pray that lives can be changed.
I also share this to encourage you. Is there anyone in your life that you need to share Jesus with? Is there anyone you need to challenge or just show love to? Even if you have little faith that things will ever change…shower them with love. God can take your faith, small though it may be, and move mountains.
I know this is a small step. But, at the same time, it is a HUGE step. I believe that God can take someone with the faith of a mustard seed and He can move mountains. I am praying that will be the case in this situation. I am praying for God to move mountains in Macy’s life and in the lives of those she is sharing with at the jail.
Will you pray with me?
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!” Ephesians 3:20

Wonderful news!! I haven’t been following your blog a really long time, so I had no idea about Macy! Breaks my heart – but so glad to see that God is using you and Macy for His glory in a tough situation.

Praise God! 🙂 Joining you and your family in prayer for mighty things to happen in this situation! To go through a trial like Macy is going thru must mean that God has GREAT plans for her life! Look at Joseph…He too was falsely accused and in jail…but God used it all for His good purpose! May she be encouraged to know that the enemy sees the great potential God put in her…and is doing EVERYTHING to stop it…but in the midst of it…God is doing more to bring His good works in her to completion! May she look at her stay as ministry. May she realize that God is sending her as a missionary to one of the hardest places…but to a place full of people He loves that NEED Him. I will be praying for her…I will be praying that she takes this opportunity to put on the full armor of God…I am praying that she would suit up not only with the sword of the spirit…but all aspects of the armor of God…and that her walk with Christ would be so intimate that she would be an explosion of God’s love in that jail…and the devil would regret more than anything the day he put her there. I’m praying that the good God is going to do in this situation would triumph over the bad the devil meant…and Macy would see clearly as the LORD sees the situation…that she would remain faithful…and her heart soft towards God. Love you Candace…you have been such an inspiration and encouragement to me over the past couple of years!
