This past weekend I had the opportunity to be around a lot of family members. We had a family reunion on 1 side of the family, then with Father’s Day we saw both sides of our family on Sunday. I’m so thankful for the blessing of family…
Family is a blessing – dysfunctional though it may be – God gives us such training ground in our families. Our families see us at our best and at our worst. Our families generally love us regardless. Our family may not communicate well, but that in itself has shown me that communication is something I *need* to work on! Even the negative things turn into lessons. God lessons. Good lessons. Our families point us to God…the good and the bad.
And well, it’s just more fun to travel through life with other people, right? Especially those who have to love you because you’re related. 🙂 I’m thankful for my family, for our heritage, for our faith, for the many parents, cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who have poured into our lives. I’m thankful, dysfunction and all!!
Today I am thankful for so much…
sunflowers growing
rain
thunderstorms
family reunions
singing old hymns with my very extended family around the piano (parents, cousins, grandparents, great uncles, aunts, uncles…)
prayers, encouragement and support
church in the dark (our electricity went out and the service was just beautiful with candles lit and just the quiet worship of His people)
celebrating Father’s Day with my hubby, my dad and my FIL
skinny cow strawberry ice cream sandwiches. yep, I’m thankful for them! 🙂 YUM!!
Mr. Popper’s Penguins — SO GOOD!! We loved it!! A great family movie!
