In addition to praying with my children, I am praying that God would help me to instill in them the importance of prayer. I want them to be 3 little prayer warriors. I want them to know that they can talk to the God of the universe any time they want to. I want them to talk to Him when they are happy, I want them to tell Him their fears, I want them to know that no matter what, God loves them and wants to listen to them.
About a year and a half ago, we made these prayer books together at the start of our Lent season. I think these are perfect for helping kids learn to pray on their own, even if they aren’t reading yet!
We just used cheap little photo albums and began inserting pictures of people and families that we wanted to remember to pray for!
We listed family members and our sponsored children, too!
The kids can look at these in their beds in the mornings or at night as they are trying to go to sleep. These books will help them to focus in on praying for others. I think it’s a great tool for teaching kids the power of intercession!
What ideas have you used to help your children learn how to pray?
