I love praying for my children’s futures and for their future families. I love imagining the grand babies I will prayerfully one day enjoy. 🙂 Sometimes I think I might enjoy that stage a little more than this one! ha!!
As I pray for my children, I also often pray for the people they will marry. I also acknowledge that He may not have marriage in His plans for one of my children, and I pray for my heart to be ok with that too. 🙂
I pray for their marriages. I know how hard marriage is. I know what a beautiful picture it is of the love Jesus has for us. I know what a huge decision it will be as my children enter their early 20’s or so. I know how difficult this stage in life. In about 10 years, I will be able to tell my children that I have been praying – for years – for this time in their life, for wisdom in their decision making, for Jesus to take first place in their lives, and for the spouse that God has for them.
Lord, let my son be a considerate husband who treats his wife with respect, so that nothing will hinder his prayers. Let him love his wife in the same way that Christ loved the church, being willing to give himself up for her. 1 Peter 3:7, Ephesians 5:25
Father, let my daughters be wives who are worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. Let each of them be willing to submit to their husbands as to the Lord. 1 Tim. 3:11, Eph. 5:22
Cause my children to honor marriage, and to keep their marriage beds pure. Hebrews 13:4
Bless the marriages of my children. As they grow older, let my children rejoice in the spouses of their youth. Prov. 5:18
