I have been meeting with a small group of ladies in my home the past few weeks going through the book, The Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson. It has been so good to meet with other moms and discuss the many various aspects of motherhood with each other.
One thing that we have been discussing lately is how uniquely God created each of our children and that these unique qualities are for a PURPOSE.
Along those same lines, I think we can also say that our weaknesses – and those of our children – serve a purpose as well!! I know God has done so much in my own life regarding my weaknesses – first and foremost He has shown me HIS STRENGTH.
For that reason, I want to focus today on the weaknesses of our children and praying that God would use those things to mold and grow our kids into who He created them to be.
Think about the areas your children each struggle with individually.
- Pride
- Anger
- Bragging
- Tattling
- Stubbornness
- disobeying
- easily offended
The list could go on and on…but look at those weaknesses and/or sin issues and find Scripture verses that correlate to those exact issues in your child’s life. Then pray those verses for your children!!
Here are some examples:
“Lord, remind my child that pride goes before destruction. Help us as parents to be humble before you and before them that they might see the humility of Christ in us. Make us more like Your son who humbled Himself and became obedient, even to death. May my child find joy in obedience and humility.” (Prov. 16:18, Phil. 2:8)
“Father, you are slow to anger and abounding in love. May it be so in our children as well. Help us as parents to teach our children how to deal with angry in a healthy way – teach us, as adults, to do so as well! Father, above all else, may our children love and love well.” (Psalm 103: 9)
