Dayspring Quilted Tree Skirt {more on contentment}

Every year as we put up our Christmas tree, I pray and beg God to let my children learn early in life that Jesus is the gift.

As a parent, I can think of no greater prayer for Christmas-time and as we decorate our home for Christmas, I pray that He is welcome in our home and in our hearts. Our home, our decorations…and yes, our Christmas tree, reflect the real meaning of Christmas. Our home and our decorations reveal so much about our family and how we celebrate.

It’s not that the decorations have to be magnificent, huge or expensive. I have shared recently about how God has been leading me on a journey to contentment. I am learning and growing in this area. He is stretching me.

I love to decorate and make our home beautiful…to make it a place we enjoy being…to make our home a place of comfort and rest and joy. But, spending a lot of money doesn’t have to be the answer to making our homes reflect Jesus.

When I do purchase new things for our home, I think about how the item can help me to make those things happen in my home. Will this item reflect Jesus? Will this item add beauty and will we love it? Or will it collect dust and be a frustration or distraction? I’ve been more conscious lately about only buying things that I truly LOVE for our home. Before, I would buy things that were on sale just because they were on sale. Ugh! I don’t want my home full of those things.

So, when I saw this quilted tree skirt from Dayspring, I immediately loved it. At Christmas-time especially, I want Jesus to be our focus…and there’s no better place to put that emphasis in our homes than UNDER THE TREE.
