On our last day of art class at co-op before Christmas, I decided to use 2 of Tricia’s chalk pastel tutorials with my class! I shared that we also used her ideas with our Fall Leaves & Trees a few weeks ago! Click over here if you’d like to read all the posts in my Teaching Art {With the Help of Pinterest!}
Supplies Needed: Paper + Chalk Pastels = that’s it!
Here are Tricia’s instructions for the Chalk Pastel Christmas Trees. {Find many more Simple Chalk Pastel Tutorials here!}
Next up was a Little Town of Bethlehem project.
At the time of this project, I couldn’t find a tutorial on Tricia’s blog – but she sent me this link for doing Star of Bethlehem!! I saw a picture of it on pinterest and decided to try it out!! I think it turned out beautifully!
I had my kids take a black or brown chalk pastel and just draw a simple outline of buildings (one line) all the across their paper. Then we shaded and blended the buildings with that same color.
The next thing we did was draw a yellow star and shade around it to make it SHINE!
Finally we shaded the rest of the sky a dark blue to make it look like it was night time.
We’ve had so much fun in this art class! We are now finished with our first semester! I will still be teaching art next semester. I have decided I won’t continue posting this series EVERY week…but when we do find a great project on Pinterest that turns out well, I will come back and share about it and link to this series!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the Teaching Art {with the help of Pinterest} series!
