In order to help keep myself accountable the goals I set at the beginning of 2014, I’m going to try to post monthly with updates! If you have any updates on your goals or word of the year, I would love to see them!

Goals
I have been using this Lift app as a sort of “checklist” for my goals each day. For some reason, it is motivating to me to have this list of goals and see how many days I’ve accomplished them!!
My goals in January were:
- Drink 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water daily {16/31}
- Exercise 3 times per week {5/31}
- Juice OR Smoothie OR Salad daily {16/31}
- Read Bible in a Year portion {15/31} I’m reading this chronological Bible with my husband this year: Reading God’s Story
- Get up early {13/31 days}
- Kettleball swings {I only started this goal last week}
Overall I am pretty pleased with these results even though most of the goals were only met HALF of the days in January. I’m choosing to look at it in a positive light – each of these “check marks” on my goal list was ONE MORE DAY than that goal was achieved in December! 🙂 So, 16 times in January is a HUGE improvement! And considering we had quite a few snow days and sick days, I’m taking that into consideration also.
Books Read Thus Far in 2014
- Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine ~I loved this book. I don’t think that ordinarily I would have finished a book on goals, but because I have felt the Lord prompting me to be more disciplined and get more accomplished with my time, this book was EXACTLY what I needed at exactly the right time! God is good! {I wrote a full review and the points that spoke to me the most here.}
- Fifteen Minutes: A Novel by Karen Kingsbury ~ If you enjoy American Idol or other such shows, you might enjoy this novel where the main character is a contestant on one of these type shows. 🙂 I enjoy Karen Kingsbury’s fiction and they are easy, quick reads that also are faith based. I don’t like that this one includes more romance, and it’s not inappropriate in any way, I just don’t like or need to read a lot of books with romance in them.
- Speaking of Jesus: The Art of Not-Evangelism ~ I have a looooong post coming up on this book in the next 1-2 weeks. This book was amazing. I will say upfront that there are a few things in it that I don’t agree with 100% but overall this book is fabulous. If you want to be challenged in how you share Jesus with the world around you, I highly recommend this book!

Love the app idea! Very cool. I am trucking along with my goals as well. Sometimes they seem heavy, but I really appreciate the accountability in making each month the best it can be even if it involves failing from time to time. Keep up the great work! Off to drink water myself!

I’ve just been thinking about adding kettleball swings to my routine! How do you like them? Do you use a video or a certain set of instructions?
Candace says
Mystie, I never saw this comment!! I’m sorry. 🙁 I just watched a video of how they do the basic swing once and now just do the swings without a video or anything. If you’re just doing the swings, supposedly that is the best exercise for working lots of muscles at once. And I’ve been trying to increase my swings as I go.
