{Lately I’ve been clinging to this truth! CHRIST IN ME is my hope!! Nothing I can pull off myself!}
God’s Glory Outside My Window
We have finally warmed up (with a quick drop to the 30’s in early March) and it looks like Spring is finally here!! While I love winter and being snowed in, I also look forward to taking a book, a glass of iced tea and sitting in my backyard reading!
Giving Thanks
I can’t believe each year as we get through birthday season in our home. We celebrated Caleb’s birthday last week. So, the last birthday is our middle girl. She will be 11 years this month! Our kids will be 12, 11, and 10. How did this happen? Having 2 tween girls in our home has been interesting. I may not be as tired as I was when I had 3 “babies” but I sure am on my knees a lot more!! Giving thanks for this family God blessed me with…I wouldn’t trade them for anything!!
Also giving thanks for the memories of my grandpa and the special family times spent together the week that he died. I shared more about what I’ve learned from this wonderful man here.
In The Schoolroom
Continuing along in our history studies, we have learned about Ancient Greece are now in Ancient Rome!! We’ve never studied this time period before so we are learning a LOT. You can follow along with my Ancient History studies here or check out my Ancient History pinterest board!! When we finish our Rome studies, I will make a complete post of all the fun things we did for that time period. For now, check out this fun, simple & low cost field trip that we took looking for Greek & Roman Architecture!
From The Kitchen
Emily has made bread all by herself! What an awesome accomplishment for a 10 year old…especially considering her mama doesn’t enjoy it much. I’m SO glad that she does!! Several of you asked for that recipe and HERE IT IS! Yay! Note on the bread — I really cannot keep eating all this homemade bread!! Ugh! Any tricks for keeping this stuff in your home for your family but NOT eating it yourself?! LOL!!
Around The Home
Gosh I’ve had a hard time getting back into a routine…seems like when we have a good week then something else comes up to throw us all off again. Ugh.
On My Nightstand
I’ve been re-reading my grandpa’s books. Take-Off From Hazel Valley would be a great book to read with your kids if you’re studying the depression era. Then, No Hurrahs For Me would be great for your WW2 studies!
Depression: Looking Up from the Stubborn Darkness – I’ve got so much highlighted in this book that I’m going to have to do SEVERAL posts of quotes!! Ha!! This is probably THE best book I’ve read on depression. There you have it. Look for some of my favorite quotes coming soon…so real and authentic and at the same time BIBLICAL.
The Antelope in the Living Room: The Real Story of Two People Sharing One Life ~ I read this book for book club and OH MY HEAVENS. Y’all have got to read this book. When I read Melanie Shankle’s first book, Sparkly Green Earrings, I thought…”this woman has GOT to write more books! Because I need to laugh more often!” Her first book was her memoir on motherhood, this one is her memoir on marriage. Both are amazing and wonderful and will make you laugh out loud.
