We were very, very blessed to get a {free} trip to the beach this year when we thought we wouldn’t be taking a vacation at all! So, of course, being the book nerd that I am, as soon as I realized we were getting a WEEK AT THE BEACH {squeal} I started planning what books I wanted to read.
{By the way, isn’t that bag ADORABLE? I absolutely love following Kristin Schmucker on Instagram and when I saw this bag she had in her shop, I felt in my spirit that it would be the perfect beach bag for my precious reading materials. I’m not an affiliate for her shop, but I wish I was!! ha! Here is her Etsy shop in case you’re interested. Those coffee mugs are calling my name too…favorite color, one of my favorite phrases/prayers.}
So, what is INSIDE the bag, you say?
1. As soon as I knew about our opportunity to go to the beach, I ordered this 8 week ABIDE journal/field guide to take with me! I love this passage of Scripture in John 15 and am so excited to learn more about REMAINING in Christ! I bought it from Naptime Diaries shop!
2. I can’t wait to dig into Finding Spiritual Whitespace: Awakening Your Soul to Rest by Bonnie Gray. I had a sweet friend that sent me a copy of this book after I shared with her some recent struggles and stressors. What a blessing! I’m only a few chapters into it so far, but it’s so, so good.
3. As you know, I’ve been reading Edward Welch’s book on depression and it is by far the best book I’ve ever read on the topic, especially for believers. So, when I started realizing that these racing thoughts and such were likely anxiety, a friend recommended this book by the same author, Running Scared: Fear, Worry, and the God of Rest! I knew it would be wonderful so I ordered it.
4. This is our next book club read: A Voice in the Wind (Mark of the Lion). I had this post set to publish while I was gone but I had to come back and edit this because I finished this book! OH MY Y’ALL. So, so good! I’m about to actually finish the SECOND book in the series because I can’t put it down. The second book in the series is: An Echo in the Darkness (Mark of the Lion #2) and here is the 3rd book: As Sure as the Dawn (Mark of the Lion #3)
One of MY all time favorite reads was Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, so I know this one will be good too.
5. I’m smack dab in the middle of Beth Moore’s newest study with the ladies at my church. I am LOVING Children of the Day: 1 & 2 Thessalonians and will have this and my Bible, along with a few pens and highlighters in my bag as well!
Happy reading, friends! Enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
