I’m so excited to join in with a team of bloggers that will be introducing you to a brand new book that you and your family do NOT want to miss!
Are you familiar at all with Martin Luther and his place in the history of our faith? Whether you are familiar with him or not, I think his story and his faith are pretty amazing and we can all learn something from the study of his life.
Well, Danika Cooley has written a biography of Martin Luther for MIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL students!! It is called When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther. I’m in the middle of reading it now and it is fabulous. If you homeschool, you will definitely want to add this to the period in history when you study the reformation.
October 31 commemorates what has become known as “Reformation Day.” Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation.
As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church history. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the truth of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone as explained by Scripture alone.
Author Danika Cooley has written Luther’s story for young people in her new book, When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther.

Honestly, I had to google “Martin Luther quotes”. 🙂 I knew that I had heard some but couldn’t remember any. I like this one, “Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave.”

I love Reformation Day!

“Unless I am convinced by the testimony of the Holy Scriptures or by evident reason-for I can believe neither pope nor councils alone, as it is clear that they have erred repeatedly and contradicted themselves-I consider myself convicted by the testimony of Holy Scripture, which is my basis; my conscience is captive to the Word of God. Thus I cannot and will not recant, because acting against one’s conscience is neither safe nor sound. God help me. Amen.”
I love the idea of “Here I stand. I can do no other. God Help me.” but am unsure of its authenticity.

I am entering on His Mercy is New…….. I had to search for quotes but this one I really like “You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say”.

I would say : Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.
