Verse to Pray for Our Home
1 John 4:19
“We love because he first loved us.”
Prayer:
God, this sums up our prayer for our home and our family. We love because You first loved us. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your faithfulness to us. Thank You for Jesus. Without Him, where would we be? We praise You, Father, for Your goodness to us.

I would LOVE to hear from you in the comments! How are you liking the book? What struck you the most??
The last chapter of the book deals with suffering and walking through that with someone.
“Nothing can keep the pain from crippling each one of us from time to time. We cannot escape that reality. But we can help each other climb the difficult stairs of our lives; we can help each other when moving under our own steam just is not going to happen. We can raise each other up in dignity, and look right into another’s eyes. We can help each other make it to places that have been closed to us.” Radical Hospitality, p. 279
This is so beautiful to me. This is who I want to be. I so often think of the quote that say something like, “be kinder than necessary for you never know the battle someone is facing.”
We are all facing battles in our lives. We all have our stuff. Walking through that with someone isn’t easy. None of us is always easy to love. Some of us not even often. 🙂 yet, love is what we are called to.
In closing this book discussion, I pray you have been encouraged and challenged to look beyond your comfort zones to the people who might cross your path that are needy and hopeless.
May each of us extend the HOPE and LOVE of Jesus that we each received because of the cross. May we point others to Jesus and the cross in our daily conversations. May we open our homes and hearts to those that are different from us.
And may we grow closer to Jesus all the while…taking His light into the world.
Shine your light, friends!
