Y’all know me by now. You know I have piles of books I’m reading all over my house. Yes, piles. Multiple piles at that. {grin} Books are a love language of mine. Oh, you didn’t know about that love language? It’s the truth!!
So, I thought I would put together a post of the books I have going right now. You may ask HOW in the world can you read this many books at one time? I really can’t tell you. My brain is already mush. But somehow, I just go by my mood…when I have a few minutes to read, I walk to a pile, any pile, and see what grabs my attention! You could call it Mood-Based Reading. LOL!
Current Books on the Nightstand
Dear Mr. Knightley – I do like to have 1 fiction book going at a time! So this is my current fiction title. I’ve seen several friends recommend it, so I started it! I’m just a few chapters into it and so far I’m enjoying it!
Description: Samantha Moore has always hidden behind the words of others—namely, her favorite characters in literature. Now, she will learn to write her own story—by giving that story to a complete stranger.
Grace Upon Grace – this book is deep and meaty and theological and SO GOOD. I have a whole post written on this book here.
Description: The longing for spiritual fulfillment, inevitably paired with spiritual frustration, is common among Christians. Do we read and study the Bible enough? Do we worship often and in the right way? Do we pray enough, in the correct way, and for the right things? How do we become truly spiritual? And the answers from numerous self-help spirituality books only lead to confusion and the fear of missing key steps on the road to becoming spiritual. In response, John W. Kleinig clarifies that there is no process for becoming spiritual. Instead, God graciously gives to us every spiritual gift that we need, beginning with the very gift of faith in Christ, our Savior. Because God has joined us to Christ, He continually comes to give us life.
LifeGiving Home – another Sally Clarkson favorite!! I wrote a post about this book as well, with lots of quotes for you to check out! If you need encouragement in your role as wife, mother and homemaker, this book is for you!
Description: Does your home sometimes feel like just a place to eat, sleep, and change clothes on the way to the next activity? Do you long for “home” to mean more than a place where you stash your stuff? Wouldn’t you love it to become a haven of warmth, rest, and joy . . . the one place where you and your family can’t wait to be?
Precious In His Sight – I will have a full post and GIVE AWAY of this book coming up later in April! But I finished it already and it was wonderful. Christian fiction isn’t always my favorite, sometimes seems too cheesy. But this story has real heartache and I love how the author deals with the heartache and points to Jesus through the family’s story.
Description: A determined wife, her guilt-ridden husband, and the other woman, whose struggle may set them all free . . .What if your husband was cheating? What would you do?
Feisty, tenacious, and adorably flawed, Sugar Brennan is fiercely committed to her family, her traditional Christian values, and her spotless reputation in her affluent Southern community. When she discovers her husband Clay has been unfaithful, Sugar is determined to right the wrongs in her life.
Then Clay’s former mistress returns to Westfield with devastating news, posing a heart-wrenching dilemma that challenges Sugar to rethink all she’s believed about faith, family, and the healing power of forgiveness.
She’s been raised in a preacher’s home, taught to love her enemies.
She’s got the fish sticker on her car and a collection of good works under her belt.
But . . . reach out to the woman who nearly destroyed her marriage? Surely God wouldn’t ask her to go that far.
Ridiculous Faith – I admit, the title of this book drew me in! LOL! God’s Word tells us that the world will call us foolish…but so often I don’t WANT to be seen as foolish or ridiculous. Yet, that is the faith God calls us to. Are we willing to look ridiculous or foolish FOR CHRIST?? This book is challenging. I’m enjoying it!
Description: What would your life be like if you could harness the rush of faith that appears in the most desperate moments? What if you could live your entire life with the kind of split-second, imminent-disaster faith that crying out to God brings? What if you could live a life of Ridiculous Faith?
Unstuffed – This book is about clutter. Clutter in our homes and clutter in our souls. I do not struggle a lot with clutter, however, I do have a pile here and there. 😉 This book has great pratical steps and tips at the end of each chapter! I think if you are wanting to declutter your home, your schedule or your spiritual life, this book is a great starting point!
Description: STUFF. It’s everywhere. Lurking in corners and closets, spilling onto counters and coffee tables, creating havoc everywhere we look. And it’s not just the physical clutter that weighs us down. Oh no, it is the stress of overbooked schedule, and the weight of a life that sometimes feels oppressive and totally out of whack.
New York Times bestselling author Ruth Soukup feels your pain–she has been there too. Through personal stories, Biblical truth, and practical action plans, she will inspire and empower each of us to finally declutter not just our home, but our mind and soul as well. Unstuffed is real, honest, and gets right down to the question we are all facing–how can we take back our lives from the stuff that is weighing us down?
Wild and Free – I shared on instagram that the words in the title to this book do not describe me. However, living with abandon and FREEDOM in CHRIST are things I want for my life. This book will release on May 3rd, but I am already loving it. Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan have hit it out of the ballpark with one. And while I wouldn’t use wild or free to necessarily always describe me, the subtitle fits perfectly: a hope-filled anthem for the woman who feels she is both too much and never enough.
Description: Wild and Free is an anthem and an invitation in equal parts to find freedom from the cultural captivity that holds us back, and freedom to step into the wild and holy call of God in our lives. With fresh biblical insight tracing all the way back to Eve and a treasury of practical application, Jess and Hayley reveal how women today can walk in the true liberty we already have in Jesus.
Because you don’t have to be everything to everyone. You don’t have to try so hard to button it up and hold it together. And you certainly don’t have to quiet the voice that God gave you when he created you to sing. Wild and Free will help you shake off the lies of insecurity in your life, and step forward to maximize your God-given influence for his glory and the world’s good.
