I don’t know about you but right about now I need some “time away” each day to escape in a book. Is anyone else like that?
But, it’s HARD to find clean fiction these days. I love a story that will pull me in so that I just can’t put the book down! But I don’t like murder mysteries, I don’t like romance, I don’t like scary and intense…and that makes it hard to find things I enjoy reading!
I wanted to share four titles with you that I have enjoyed so far this year that do fit into that box for me.
Side note: I don’t have a picture of the other three books because I tend to pass books along as soon as I finish them! I love to share a good book! This last one I read, Of Literature & Lattes, is still up for grabs at my house for my local friends. 🙂
Of Literature and Lattes by Katherine Reay. If you’ve been around for long you will remember that I love ALL of this author’s books. I’ve read every single one and couldn’t wait for this one to arrive at my house! Reay’s books are light but not cheesy, they are faith based but not sermons, they pull me in without scaring me or making me lose sleep.
How the Light Gets In by Jolina Petersheim. This story was heart wrenching and definitely pulled me in. The story line contains powerful themes on forgiveness and marriage, which somehow I believe that we all need.
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. This historical fiction book is based on the real blue people of the Kentucky hills. I had no idea the story of these people! Because it is based on history it was all the more fascinating to me! I don’t always love historical fiction when it’s more history than story. But this story and the characters definitely drew me in!
Call Your Daughter Home by Deb Spera. This is another historical fiction book based on the 1920’s in the rural south. There are three women in this story who are each unforgettable in their own way. I loved how their stories were so unique yet woven together so beautifully.
I would love your recommendations, too!! Tell me what fiction books you’re loving right now! I need a new book now that I’ve finished these…
