Studying Proverbs with your children doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, I think sometimes we learn more when we just keep it simple! Don’t you agree?
The basis of our study was READING from Proverbs, DISCUSSING the verses we read each day, MEMORIZING key scriptures and WRITING the verses for our school work.
Simple, yet meaningful. The book of Proverbs is FULL of such wisdom, I wanted to discuss some of its topics with my kids.
This loosely organized study of Proverbs was our Bible study for the first semester of this school year. 🙂 I didn’t go all out but really just did enough to introduce my kids to this book of wisdom, memorize a few verses and have discussions on what Biblical wisdom looks like. We did a lot of comparisons with wisdom and foolishness.
Even as the mom and teacher, I personally got a lot out of this study as well!!
Here are a few different resources we used while learning about the book of Proverbs:
- Proverbs copywork pages from Ami (free)
- Wisdom and the Millers: Proverbs for Children
- Print to Cursive Proverbs (my girls used this for cursive practice)
We also memorized a lot of verses from Proverbs and discussed what they meant. Here are some of the verses we memorized:
- Proverbs 1:7 {we discussed fearing the Lord}
- Proverbs 2:6 {we had lots of discussions on what God’s wisdom looks like, see chart above}
- Proverbs 3:5-6
- Proverbs 4:23
- Proverbs 6:6-8 {we loved talking about the ants, this tied into our ant study}
- Proverbs 11:2
- Proverbs 15:1
- Proverbs 29:11
