If there is only ONE book that I could recommend to you for the coming months, it would be this one, The Contemplative Mom: Restoring Rich Relationship with God in the Midst of Motherhood
by Ann Kroeker. Wow.
You may recall that I have another of Ann’s books on my favorite list as well, Not So Fast: Slow-Down Solutions for Frenzied Families. This book, Not So Fast, is probably my favorite book for a family desiring to simplify and slow down. Her suggestions and insight is Biblical and I just love her writing! I think her writing style, her discernment and her Biblical viewpoint makes me just really resonate with her books.
The Contemplative Mom is an excellent book for any mom who is desiring to get closer to God, to deepen her relationship with Him and spend more time with Him. I love that each of her chapters includes scriptures to look up and mediate on, practical ideas for real moms AND suggestions and wisdom from other experienced moms. I especially love that her practical ideas are realistic.
Here are the names of the chapters in this book:
- Our Richest Relationship
- Time Alone with the Beloved
- Divine Companionship
- Talking to God
- Listening to God
- Taking His Advice
- Exploring the Great Outdoors
- Experiencing the Great Outdoors
- Experiencing Community
- A Love Like No Other
So, as you can see, this book touches on many things that are important to me and have really taken a front seat in my life in recent months…prayer, meditating on God’s Word, listening to Him, quiet and simplifying.
If you are struggling in your walk with God, or even if you aren’t right now…this book is for every mom who desires to just have a deeper walk with our Lord in the midst of the chaos of motherhood.
{I am hoping to do a give away of this book in the coming weeks after I return from Belize…so stay tuned!! That is just how much I loved this book…I wish I could send a copy to each of my mom friends!!}
