Our pastor shared this past week about the Kingdom of God and how it looks so different from the world we live in. He used the passage from the beatitudes to discuss what true happiness in Christ looks like.
Happiness in Christ centers on contentment in Him and not money, fame or position.
Happiness in Christ doesn’t look anything like what people are searching after in this world.
Happiness in Christ may not even look like “happiness” to some people.
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.C)’>
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.E)’>
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.G)’>
for they will see God.I)’>
for they will be called children of God.K)’>
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.M)’> persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.O)’> because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5.
According to this passage, we are blessed if we are poor in Spirit…
Blessed if we mourn.
Blessed if we are meek.
Blessed if we hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Blessed if we are merciful.
Blessed if we are pure in heart.
Blessed if we are peacemakers.
Blessed if we are persecuted!!
This doesn’t sound like happiness to me.
But wait, happiness in Christ isn’t what the world says is happiness or blessedness.
Are we truly happy in Christ?
Are we content in Him?
How does that look different than the world’s happiness?
