Our Christmas Tree

I have been trying to get a few pictures of our Christmas tree and have found that Christmas trees are very hard for me to get a good picture of, for some reason! It must be the lights! And the big picture window behind ours. Anyway, so I keep trying, because someday I want to be able to remember our very “kid friendly” Christmas tree. 🙂

So, here is our tree 2011, still trying to get a good picture. ha!

And then a picture of our tree this year. Still as kid-friendly and well loved as ever!!

Right now, at this stage in life, we have lots of kid-made ornaments on our tree. Handprints, angels, pictures, beaded candy-canes. And I love it. I wouldn’t change a thing. I see the beautiful trees that are decorated with matching and themes and are absolutely gorgeous. But, honestly, my kids are the ones who love putting up our tree…I don’t have the heart to not add all these beautiful memories. So, I think someday I will have a more well put together tree! But for now, it’s all about making memories for them, and putting up the tree together is one of our favorites!!

We also have quite a few sentimental ornaments. A few ornaments from my childhood and David’s as well. Ornaments from our first Christmas together. Ornaments that read, “baby’s 1st Christmas.”

I have been trying to get ornaments on all my mission trips: Hawaii, Alaska, Belize and southeast Asia. Well, in April, I forgot to get one while in Asia. So I had a friend get one for me on her recent trip…isn’t this snowman the best?!?! I LOVE IT!! My new favorite, maybe! 🙂

I love the memories we share together as we put up the tree and as we gaze on it all through the Advent season!! Each ornament a memory. Special, unique and full of meaning. Even the styrofoam angels are quite special to me.
