Easter should be just as special (or more!) than Christmas, right? Here are some of our favorite ideas for bringing CHRIST back to Easter!
Our Tomb Cake
Just a simple half-bundt cake up on its side! I made green coconut for the grass, set out a few flowers, and put a small cloth inside because Jesus is GONE!! Also a simple sign on a toothpick to say HE IS RISEN!! More directions {and 2 variations, including one with Lego soldiers!} can be found here!
Good Friday
On Good Friday for the past few years we have used the idea to put a simple red spot on each of our hands to remind us of Jesus sacrifice. Each time we look at our hands, we are reminded to thank Jesus for the cross.
Easter Grass Garden or Golgotha Hill
There are so many ideas around the web for growing grass for Easter!! I love to have the kids help make simple crosses out of sticks to place in the grassy hill. You can put in a tomb out of an empty flower pot turned on its side. Just place dirt around the pot and plant grass seed. On Good Friday, place the crosses in.
Empty Tomb Rolls
These are so simple, so yummy and so meaningful! Such a great picture for kids!! Take large marshmallows, dip them into melted butter, then roll into a cinnamon/sugar mixture. Roll up the marshmallow (Jesus body) in the spices for burial. Then, wrap the “body” in the grave clothes – the crescent roll. Make sure to squeeze shut all openings so the marshmallow doesn’t ooze out. Bake as directed on the can. When you take out the rolls, the marshmallows are GONE! He is Risen!!
5 Faith Based Easter Art Projects
We love doing art projects!! I had a hard time finding Easter art projects that weren’t bunnies and eggs…so I compiled 5 favorites that I did find!!
Resurrection Eggs
We have used these for quite a few years. Every Easter. The kids get excited when I get them out now each year. Traditions. Traditions centered around Christ and the Cross. That is what I want Easter to be for my family!! If your kids are younger, this dvd is awesome, too, to go with the eggs: Miss Pattycake’s Eggstravaganza
Easter Book Basket
Easter Baskets
Can we fill our kids baskets with Christ-centered treats?
Don’t forget to purchase FAIR TRADE chocolate for them also. God is teaching me that to love others well, that includes those around the world who are being treated unfairly. I can love them from here!
Happy Easter, friends!
