There aren’t too many books that I read where I say, “I could have written this book.” But, this book, Ever After: Life Lessons Learned in My Castle of Chaos by Vicki Courtney, is one of them! Not that I have her humor or writing skills, but that I could say the same things about my own life!
Growing up, I always wanted to be a mom. In fact, you might say that I had fairy tale visions of motherhood. Beautiful children, patient mother, enjoying our days together in bliss. You might also say that I have learned a few life lessons in my castle of chaos also! 🙂 Motherhood has been one learning experience after another. Motherhood has caught me by surprise, been harder than I ever imagined and not quite the fairy tale vision I had growing up.
I think books like this are important. I think it’s important that young girls and teens know that motherhood is hard. I want my girls to grow up knowing that motherhood is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Worth it? Yes! They are worth it. God working in my life and humbling me: worth it. But easy? No way!!
In this book, Vicki Courtney shares, quite humorously, about her own misgivings about motherhood. She shares the realities of what life is really like as a mom…both the difficulties and the blessings!
This video about her book is awesome…I hope you’ll take a peek!
