In September our Scripture Prayers will be for teachers and I thought I would add on some verses that we could pray for our homeschools also! {30 Verses to Pray for our Teachers will go up in 1-2 weeks.} Of course, the verses for teachers CERTAINLY apply to us as homeschool teachers. But these verses are more for our entire homeschool – the teacher, the principal, the kids, the home, the subjects, the hearts…etc.
When I think about what comes to mind when I’m praying for our homeschool, I think about our attitudes, our arguments, our selfish desires, the heart lessons I pray we learn, sibling relationships, our children becoming who God made them to be. And FOR SURE, public school parents have these same hopes and prayers for their kids — if you want to pray these verses, by all means!! We can never pray too much for our children, regardless of our schooling choices!
10 Verses to Pray for our Homeschool
- Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Lord, may we, as parents, impress upon our children’s hearts a love for You and Your Word. May our children and our entire family love you with all our hearts, souls and strength. Help us to talk about Your Word as we walk along the road, as we lie down and as we get up.
- Psalm 1:1-3 Let my children take delight in Your Word, let them meditate on it day and night. In our homeschool and in our home may we focus more on the inner heart and character rather than what man sees.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 May our children trust You with all their hearts, may they not lean on their own understanding but acknowledge you in all their ways. And we thank You that when they do, You will make their paths straight.
- Proverbs 22:29 May our children be diligent in developing the gifts You have blessed them with, may they become skilled workers, using all You’ve given them to fulfill Your purposes and bring glory to Your Name.
- Matthew 5:16 May our children’s lights so shine before men that they may see their good deeds and praise You, our Father in heaven.
- Matthew 25:21 Help us, as parents, to guide our children and help them to discover their God given gifts. May they always use them to serve others and glorify You.
- Matthew 28:19-20 M ay our children go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything You have commanded us.
- Luke 8:11-15 May our children’s hearts be good soil, that they might hear Your Word, learn it, retain it, live it. May Your Word produce a crop of godly character and may they be courageous for Your Kingdom, God. Don’t allow Satan to snatch Your Word from their hearts. May our homeschool seek to impress Your Words upon their hearts that the roots will go down deep and they may stand firm in the days to come.
- 2 Timothy 3:16 Show our children that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. May our children come to love Your Word, may they treasure Your Word.
- Hebrews 13:21 Equip my children with everything they need for accomplishing Your will in their lives. You are our Provider!!
