If you’ve been reading my blog lately you will remember our new crazy fall schedule this year, you will quickly understand the meaning behind this post. Lately, with 3 kids in the pre-teen middle school age category, you can understand what I mean when I say, “I just cannot do.one.more.thing.”
In my heart of hearts, I long to be the fun mom. I want to have energy to run and do and play and make the best of even the harder days. But, I’m just being honest here, most days, I fail miserably at this.
In this particular season, the major enemy in our household is pre-algebra. Both our girls are taking it this year and I’m not exaggerating when I say that every time we sit down to do a math lesson, we have some combination of tears, yelling, frustration, anger, stomping off, and well, you get the picture. One day a wise friend said that maybe we needed some kind of treat to ease the pain of pre-algebra. Lightbulb moment!!! Why had I not thought of this before?
What makes a hard thing better? CHOCOLATE and PIE. Of course.
Yet, if you recall, with homeschooling and teaching piano and running to and fro every day of the week, baking a chocolate pie was not happening.
Enter Marie Callender’s frozen treats.
Thank You, Lord, for frozen blessings from the freezer aisle.
And, if I’m being honest here, Marie’s Chocolate Satin pie tasted much better than anything I could whip up. With the rich chocolate filling, made from scratch crust, and chocolate curls on top, this is a treat that may just make math time not quite so difficult.
Life is too short not to at least TRY and make math homework a little more enjoyable. Before I know it, my children will no longer require help with homework. Pre-algebra will be a thing of the past. These middle school years will turn into high school and then they will be off to college. As hard as this season has been, I really do not want to wish it away.
A little chocolate pie helps me to savor these moments with my kids and make something hard a little more fun.
Have you ever tried one of Marie Callender’s frozen pies?
Check out these locations to find a store near you that carries these! And, if you have math homework in your future, I suggest picking up two or three.
{Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, however, the pre-algebra tears and opinions on chocolate pie are all ours.}

Absolutely love this idea! Used to visit Marie Calendar resturant when we lived in CA years ago–I should absolutely get one of the pies to celebrate. Important things, you know, like math class!
A reason to celebrate…. Your picture and description make me want to go out and buy a pie asap. We celebrate little victories like homework and good behavior- probably not as often as we should. We also celebrate life’s milestones like drivers’ license, birthdays, holidays, and major accomplishments. After reading this- I think the little things need more focus.
We celebrate cello practices with a good attitude with sweet or salty treats!
My reason to celebrate is to stop and savor the moment, because as you said, the time is short that we have with these blessings!
I love to pull out a box of brownie mix or cookies and make them with my 3yr old. we just might do that today to break up the stress of this season
My reason to celebrate… any time my husband, who is having health issues, can eat.
Hmm… I might have to try tempting him with a Marie Callendar’s pie. (I know the kids and I won’t be able to resist!)
My reason to celebrate…baby #3 due in 7 weeks, and she loves when I eat sweets. 😊 It’s also Christmas time, and that’s a perfect reason so enjoy pie with family…not that I really need a reason to eat pie. 😉
I celebrate when I don’t have to cook. 🙂
What a great idea!! We also celebrate when we can get through spelling and/or handwriting without tears! 🙂
I tweeted about this giveaway! https://twitter.com/ShellyBooBoo2/status/674587210310664192
The fact that Marie Callender’s pies are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good is my reason to celebrate 365 days a year!!! They are so so so so good and I just love love love this blog post!!! Now if I win, the struggle to NOT use it on buying MC’s desserts….ohhh girl the struggle will be real!!!
Marie Calendar pies are so good. What an excellent idea to use them as a treat to reduce some of the stress of Pre-Algebra.
We own a business so when I get the taxes finished for the year it is a time to CELEBRATE!
My son struggles with reading because of seizures he had as a baby because of Tuberous Sclerosis. This would be a great idea as we are working on this skill. Also today is his 12th birthday. 🎂😁
We’ve picked up a Marie Callenders frozen pie in the past when we just need a sweet treat! It’s not often, but it does happen! 🙂
We celebrate even the smallest successes with very specific dances…
We have the Math Mambo, the English Electric Slide, the Science Shimmy, the Biology Boogaloo, and the History Hop!
Celebrating math with pie is something that my son and I could really enjoy.

My reason to celebrate is having friends and family together for a nice dinner and we love to grab a Marie Callender’s pie to top off the feast.
Hah! We are in the same boat with algebra 1. That’s reason enough to celebrate. 🙂
Thanks! I have also been keeping some small pre-made food treats (like frozen creampuffs!) in the back of the fridge to bring out when we all need a break, so we can “chill” and show each other grace and mercy. Also, hot cocoa with little marshmallows!
Celebrate all the blessings God has given us including our health, a roof over our head, food on the table, the clothes on our back, etc
I have so many reasons to celebrate! I want to celebrate my family and all the blessings God has bestowed on us. I would love to celebrate my new job and my continued good health as well.
