Could it be that surrender leads to gratitude?
It is when we begin to expect certain things from God, or from others, that we lose our peace.
We envy.
The grass is greener elsewhere.
We grow bitter or resentful.
Why hasn’t this happened for me yet?!
It’s hard to stay in a state of gratefulness when we feel entitled to a different life.
But when we surrender what we hoped for, what we expected, what we wish would have happened—surprisingly enough, there is peace there. In acceptance of what is. In learning —and choosing—gratitude for what is and not wishing for what isn’t.
Surrendering our rights, surrendering our expectations…that act— choice—of surrender allows us the freedom to be at peace no matter the circumstances.
It’s in His hands. He’s got this. All is well. ———> grateful.
