This morning as I was praying the words to the third verse of It Is Well came to mind.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross,
and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
o my soul!
I was praying and struggling through some sin & failure on my part and the Lord graciously allowed these words to just pop into my mind.
How can we say, “it is well” when we are plagued with our own yuck and stuff and past and baggage??
Because our sin was nailed to the cross – not just in part – BUT THE WHOLE. Not just ones we deem “little,” not just the ones from 25 years ago…the whole of my sin. All of it.
I don’t have to carry it anymore. My past mistakes, my failures, my worries, all the ways I’ve messed things up…I don’t have to bear it anymore.
I know for me, I tend to keep carrying it. But each day is a new opportunity to declare, “I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul!”
And later today when the enemy tries to bring it all back up again, I will declare it again.

Such a sweet reminder to remember our sins are no more because of Christ’s sacrifice. Continually need this reminder as Satan tries to sway and undermine the truth of God’s word!
