If you read my last post, you will remember that I have been working very hard for the last 5-6 months on healing my nervous system & adrenals naturally. I will say from the start of this post, I am not menopausal yet, I am in the perimenopause stage.
If you’re 40+ and female, I feel compelled to tell you to PLEASE read this book! (Honestly, it’s info I wish I had had before kids too! I was the “typical victim” of “traditional” female (lack of) medicine who was on birth control for bad periods (DON’T DO IT!!!) and metformin for pre-diabetes (change your diet) and only wish I had had all this info when I was younger!
So, you’re technically in menopause after 12 MONTHS of no cycles. I am still having very regular, pain free cycles these days. (Pain free all in thanks to changing my diet, eliminating toxins, using mineral essence from young living and the recent addition of castor oil packs.) So I am PERI-MENOPAUSAL.
You may remember a few months ago when I shared recent health struggles, my bloodwork and saliva hormone test came back with adrenal dysfuction and my hormone levels were all over the place (out of optimal range.) I visited the holistic wellness center in town and began a whole slew of things – I have a list of all the things I’m currently doing here.
GRATEFULLY, this book has CONFIRMED I am doing many of the right things. (You CAN change your diet. You CAN DO IT. If I can do it – who was addicted to soda, fast food and sugar) anyone can!) The food you eat has the power of life and death in your body. For real. (Start with whole 30 if you need a starting point.)
This book not only talks about how foods impact our cycles & hormones, but WHEN we eat, how much of certain things we eat, the toxins in our environment and how they impact our hormones (UGH – if you’re ready for a diffuser & oils let me know! but it’s so much more than just fragrance.) Food matters, no caffeine first thing in the morning, red light therapy, castor oil packs, adrenal cocktails…to name a few. She also has a chapter on lifestyle & stress & how much rundown women have bigger issues with hormones.
She gives foods to eat to boost estrogen, progesterone. Foods to avoid. Toxins to eliminate. Good & bad bacteria and how they impact your hormones, and so much more. SO MANY of the symptoms I was having this past fall are outlined in this book. I am so grateful to know I’m not truly losing my mind.
I beg you, don’t read things about changing your diet and immediately think you can’t do this. If we keep telling ourselves we can’t, that’s where we will stay. I truly believe we can feel better with some of these steps. Hopefully I’ve convinced you by now but I could go on and on. I have so much underlined in this book and want everyone else to be helped by this information too!
