If you haven’t had the opportunity to read the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan yet…take my word for it…read it! I purchased this as an audio book last year and loved it. Now, I am reading it again and it is even better this time around!
This book starts off with some foundational truths about God…but in the middle chapters in this book be prepared to be challenged, convicted, awed and inspired in your faith. I’m using my pen this time around and already have sooooo many lines underlined! Some would say that this book is “radical” or “extreme” but the more I read it, and dig into the scriptures myself, I think the challenges that Francis Chan gives us in this book are Biblical. Maybe they are extreme to us as modern-day Christians. But, no matter what century you live in, truth is truth. And this book has challenged me to really take a serious look at my walk with God and all that He is asking of me.
As a fan of Angie’s blog, Bring the Rain, I was excited to see that she and her friend Jessica were starting a BOOK CLUB (called Bloom) and their first book selection is Crazy Love!! They created a message board just for us to discuss this book and how we’re learning and growing through it. They have fun videos and interviews (like with Angie’s pastor) pertaining to the book, so it really is a great way to read a book!
If you have read (or are reading) Crazy Love, I’d love to hear about how you’re liking it and anything God has taught you through this book. And, if you do decide to start reading this book, be sure and check out the website for this book, the author has made videos to go along with each chapter and they are available online for free!

What a small world. Francis Chan’s church is right around the corner where I live. I visited his church many years ago (2002) and was very impressed with his sermon. In the last few years I had a chance to work with one of his daughters in a fashion show (Hidden Beauty), an out reach event in the community. If their baby is still here today, he/she would be one or two months older than my baby. I am not attending his church but have many friends who are. Another thing I was very impressed with his teaching was that he had challenged his congregation to “down sized” their homes. Again, it was a while ago, I am not sure how the challenge fanned out. We had considered going to his church if the worship music wasn’t so contemporary.
I listened to the “Crazy Love” video intro. Thanks for the link. I’d love to read the book now.

This was a free download from ChristianAudio.com in July. I started it once, but didn’t finish it…I’ll have to pick up where I left off.

What a great review. I thought about purchasing this book when I saw Angie and Jessica’s blog and the beginning of the Bloom community but I never did. My bookshelves are so full and with quite a few books I need to read. But this one looks so good and with the book study happening right now, it looks like a good idea. Thanks for sharing it here.

I actually bought this book a couple of weeks ago when Angie first mentioned it. Since I just started grad school I’m a little behind, only halfway through chapter 1, but it’s great. I find it fascinating how in all of my blog-hopping, the blogs I really stick to reading all converge with the same favorite blogs. Hope you have a great week. Oh, and if you are still doing your postcard board, email me your address, and I’ll send you something from New York.
